New additions to FAO Forestry Website

I am pleased to announce the following new additions to the FAO Forestry
Website:

* The Committee on Mediterranean Forestry Questions - Silva
Mediterranea - the Home Page for the FAO Statutory Body.
* Forest Resources Assessment 1990 - global synthesis. FAO Forestry
Paper No. 124
(http://WWW.FAO.ORG/WAICENT/FAOINFO/FORESTRY/FO124E/sumen.htm). This report
brings together the core of comparable information on the forest of all
regions of the world, by country, based on FAOís forest resources assessment
1990. Main issues are the situation in 1990 and the changes between 1980 and
1990 in the area of forest and other wooded land. Woody biomass is another
important issue. Morevover, the report gives a review of the status of
forest resources information; it shows the demographic background and
describes the methods used in the assessment. As a topic of special
interest, main results are shown regarding the process of deforestation and
forest degradation in the tropics.
*       FAO European Forestry Commission
(http://WWW.FAO.ORG/WAICENT/FAOINFO/FORESTRY/EFC/efc-e.htm). Complete
documentation in English, French and Spanish for the 29th Session of the
European Forestry Commission, Lahti, Finland, 19-23 October 1998.
