There is a statement, in a recent letter to the editor of the UK Timber Trades Journal, that "research indicates that 90% of wood production comes from as little as 300 million ha of forest". I was wondering if somebody knew from what research this statement originates from and also whether there would be other, possibly conflicting, data published on this matter.
