In terms of m.a.i. or at least annual increment, I remember seeing some figures years ago from CATIE (Turrialba, Costa Rica) for Pinus caribaea pilot plantings that indicated growth rates of 67 m3/ha/yr. I doubted the figure at the time; however, I do respect CATIE's work. As far as I am aware, rates of 40 m3/ha/yr or higher are not uncommon with some fast-growing exotics (Eucalyptus, Albizia, and a few others) growing in Brazil (e.g. Sao Paulo state) and other countries.
