Welcome back. It has been so quiet without you! Your points and the ensuing
responses do more than I could ever do to support the notion that forest
management decisions are based on both technical information and people's
values. It is beyond me why people to continue to believe that management
decisions are somehow objective. Management is a human activity. Like an
earlier comment regarding the notions of "natural vs unnatural" life, I
find the the notions of "objective vs unobjective" management very tiring.
I challenge anyone to provide an example of any human who has not made a
decision based on their own perceptions and values. We need to move to a
higher level of truth if we are ever to effectively address the problems of
the planet.
