Let's look at watersheds where logging is the only human activity, that is, no dams, nor cities, no farming, and no overfishing (that should be a challenge). The Sacramento River has actually had record salmon returns in recent years, despite land use patterns. Ocean conditions and overfishing are now seen to be the main culprits, along with total habitat destruction such as cities. The Fraser River in British Columbia, where there are no dams (except on the Nachako) has very healthy salmon runs despite a very large amount of logging. In the US Pacific Northwest, where you have a wider coastal plain that has been denuded for farms and towns, you have a problem. Get the blinkers off, mate, and get the various impacts of human activity into perspective.
