The Alaska Center for the Environment is a non-profit environmental advocacy and education organization dedicated to the conservation of Alaska's natural resources. Since 1971, ACE has worked to promote sound environmental policy and programs to the southcentral Alaska area and statewide. Position: Environmental Activist Location: Anchorage, Alaska, USA Duration: June 1, 1998 through the end of August, 1998 Description: Organize and activate citizen participation through public education, constituent letter writing campaigns, membership recruitment, and fundraising. Develop grassroots support for urgent local issues: protect brown bear habitat, expand recycling, stop billboards. Qualifications: Commitment to environmental, social and political justice. Strong communication skills, especially one-to-one interactions. Enjoy working as part of a team. Compensation: $300-400/wk. Advancement to leadership and management positions available and experience in organizing and campaigning taken into account. Excellent management training program. Potential opportunity to travel.
