The successful candidate will work in the Resource Assessment & Utilization Group, and will play a key role in a multidisciplinary project involved in growth/yield and computer modelling/simulation. The successful candidate must have proven experience in growth/yield, stand dynamics, and computer modelling and simulation. Basic knowledge of wood characteristics and wood products will be an assett, but will not be a prerequisite. It is important that the candidate is able to work in a team environment and communicate with scientists of different fields. The selection of the candidate for the industrial postdoctoral fellowship is made on a competitive basis by NSERC. In accordance to the NSERC requirements, only Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the fellowship. The successful candidate will be offered a 2-year appointment as Forintek employee. The salary of the postdoctoral fellow is from $37,000 to $42,000/year plus fringe benefits, commensurating with qualifications and experience. After the termination of the fellowship, other opportunities may exist, depending on the performance of the fellow and the availability of the funding. We also offer an attractive research environment which has interactions not only with internal and external scientists of different fields but also with the forest industry and government agencies in Canada.
