I think it would be interesting to track name changes over time at various
Colleges and Universities. Does anyone know when the first Department,
School or College incorporated the phrase "Natural Resources" in the title?
Was it in the 1970's? Does anybody know the total number of Schools that
today include this phrase in their name? Today, agriculture and other
disciplines are including the term "Natural Resource" in their title. These
Colleges deal with the soil and water (natural resources) but sometimes they
do not offer a degree in forestry.

I also wonder if there is a University that has more than one College of
"Natural Resources." Perhaps in the near future some University will have
three!
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
College of Forestry and Natural Resources
College of Earth Sciences and Natural Resources
Even government organizations that deal with human-made waste are including
the phrase in their titles. For Example:
"The Energy, Science and Natural Resources Program (ESNR) staff can provide
research for requests for information on issues related to stockpiled
chemical weapons, unexploded ordinance, nonstockpiled chemical weapons and
emergency response."

When the term "natural resource" is applied to include many "human-made"
resources, it will start to lose its original meaning.

The world population is expected to double by the year 2100.
Therefore the annual demand for wood for energy (etc.)
will increase and might double (to more than 7 billion m3/yr).
To provide plantation wood for people in the future,
support the planting of trees on pastureland.
Set a goal of converting 8 million ha of pastureland/yr for the next 55 years.
This would increase tree plantations to about 5% of the world's landbase.
