Dr. Hans T. Schreuder, Mathematical Statistician with the USDA Forest
Service's Rocky Mountain Research Station in Fort Collins, CO, USA, has
been selected by the International Congress of Ecology to receive the
1998 Distinguished Statistical Ecologist Award.  The award recognizes
outstanding contributions to the development of basic concepts and
applications of statistical ecology.  Dr. Schreuder will accept his
award at  the gathering of the International Congress of Ecology in
Florence, Italy, July, 1998.
