The following permanent research position is available under an open competition: RESEARCH SCIENTIST - FOREST ECOLOGY AND SILVICULTURE - Edmonton, Alberta Closing Date: April 21, 1998 SALARY: $37,036.00 - $68,888.00 WHO CAN APPLY: Residents of Canada. EDUCATION: Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree in forestry or a related natural science from a recognized university, with a specialization in silviculture or forest ecology. EXPERIENCE: Experience is required in ALL of the following areas: 1. planning and conducting research in silviculture, forest ecology and related studies with an emphasis on mixed wood silviculture, and reporting on such research and studies through scientific journals, technical reports, symposia, seminars, conferences and workshops; 2. providing silvicultural advice and consultation to clients within universities, government agencies, and the forest industry including operational professionals; 3. achieving effective knowledge transfer within the forest sector including the research, management and education communities; and 4. preparing and supervising research contracts.
