Regarding the term "Natural Resources" some foresters claim that everything on earth is a natural resource. A few claim that "everything we do is natural". In contrast, some claim that the term "Natural" is nonsense. In my opinion, both views are on the tail ends of the bell-shaped curve. Most foresters (as well a majority of the public) believe that Natural Resources are different from human-made resources. This explains why the following Colleges offer a limited range of courses. ============================================== College of Natural Resources Utah State University http://www.usu.edu/~cnr/cnr-home.htm College of Natural Resources and Environment University of Florida http://web.cnre.ufl.edu/ College of Natural Resources Colorado State http://www.cnr.colostate.edu/ College of Natural Resources University of Minnesota http://mercury.forestry.umn.edu/ College of Natural Resources Berkeley http://www.cnr.berkeley.edu/ College of Natural Resources & Sciences Humbolt http://www.humboldt.edu/~cnrs/others/nr-stock.html Department of Natural Resources Butte http://dopey.cin.butte.cc.ca.us/~rslavich/ David South School of Forestry Auburn University, AL 36849-5418 A member of the Forester's Chapter for ZPG http://www.forestry.auburn.edu/people/faculty//biology/south/zpg/forester.html dsouth@forestry.auburn.edu 334-844-1022 334-844-1084 (FAX) As always, views expressed here are my own (and I am not speaking on the behalf of others). Therefore the annual demand for wood for energy (etc.) will increase and might double (to more than 7 billion m3/yr). To provide plantation wood for people in the future, support the planting of trees on pastureland. Set a goal of converting 8 million ha of pastureland/yr for the next 55 years. This would increase tree plantations to about 5% of the world's landbase. ========================================================================= Support Zero Population Growth for the United States http://www.igc.apc.org/zpg/index.html
