------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------ I am pleased to announce the launch of a new site on the FAO Forestry WWW - The FAO Asia-Pacific Forestry Sector Outlook Study. The scope of the study is to look at the main external and sectoral developments in policies, programmes and institutions that will affect the forestry sector and to assess the likely direction of the sector's evolution to year 2010. The study involves assessment of current status, trends and the main forces which are shaping those trends and then builds on this to explore future prospects. The final comprehensive report of the study will be published in April-May 1998. Study working papers are now available on-line.
