Deer damages

Dear Netters,

I make research on the influence of bark peeling caused by deer on
growth and vitality of fir (Abies alba). On the basis of research made in
young fir stands (thickets, up-growth till 40 - 50 years old) I want to
determine the reaction of a single tree on deer damage. Whether this kind of
reaction occur at all and , if yes, in which direction - decreasing or
increasing of annual increment of height, diameter, volume etc ?
Next question which I would like to solve is to determine the
dynamics of skinning over this kind of wounds. How fast the wound can be
encrusted and how it depends on its the primary size and position of tree in
the stand ?
These are the main topics , on which I would like to find answers.
Considering that problem I would like to get in touch with somebody who has
made or makes similar research (maybe on other tree species) or who knows
anything about that or can point me someone who has dealt or deals with it.
Any literature references will be deeply appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
