GIS SERVICES MANAGER
Edmonton Regional Office
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Timberline Forest Inventory Consultants Ltd. has an immediate opening
for a GIS Services Manager in the Edmonton Regional Office.  Reporting
to the Manager - Resource Analysis, this individual will assume overall
responsibility for GIS related services for Alberta based projects.

The GIS Services Business Unit consists of a GIS Production Group,
and a GIS Analysis Group.  The successful candidate will work closely
with the GIS Production Co-ordinator, Resource Analysis and Inventory
Business Unit Managers, and GIS analysts and technicians to ensure
efficient and competent servicing of internal and external GIS clients.

Duties

 - Assumes overall responsibility for management of the GIS Services
   Business Unit, including project scheduling, quality control, budget
   reporting, personnel management, technical innovation, and business
   development.
 - Manages external client relationships.
 - Manages GIS related project components for the Alberta Inventory
   Business Unit, and co-ordinates GIS related project components among
   the three Alberta Resource Analysis Business Units.
 - Manages large, specialized data bases related to all facets of Alberta
   Resource Analysis projects.
 - Undertakes business development to create and service GIS production
   and analysis opportunities with existing and potential clients.
 - Provides technical leadership to direct GIS production and analysis
   services.
 - Ensures that the GIS Services Business Unit is efficient and
   technologically current.
 - Assists on GIS analysis project teams.

Qualifications

 - University degree and extensive experience in forestry/natural
   resource management.
 - Demonstrated business development and client liaison skills.
 - Demonstrated technical competency with current GIS software
   capabilities in an Arc/Info environment.
 - Strong data base design and management skills.
 - Knowledge of hardware/software configurations for GIS production/analysis.
 - Competency in, or understanding of stand level and/or forest level
   resource analysis.
 - Ability to work co-operatively in an integrated, multi-disciplinary
   team environment.
 - Experience in personnel management.
