Doctoral/Postdoctoral Research Position on Vegetation Remote Sensing The Laboratory for Planetary and Atmospheric Physics (LPAP) of the University of Liege, Belgium, seeks applicants for a research position on vegetation remote sensing, beginning on November 1, 1997 for a period up to 19 months in the case of successful functioning of the sensor. This project is undertaken under the auspices of a Belgian and European Preparatory Programme to the use of the VEGETATION instrument on board the future SPOT-4 satellite. It is performed in collaboration with French, German and Australian laboratories. The participation of LPAP in the project focuses on the validation of the CARAIB model by quantitative remote sensing of the vegetation index and phenology. The model was developed at LPAP and calculates the CO2 exchange flux between the biosphere and the atmosphere. The candidate is expected to efficiently interact with scientists from other fields contributing to the project. Experience in quantitative remote sensing is desirable but is not a condition. Knowledge of the UNIX environment, FORTRAN programming, use of graphic softwares and knowledge of French are assets. The salary will depend on qualification and previous experience. Applications, with a curriculum vitae , must be sent to: Prof. Jean -Claude Gerard, LPAP, University of Liege 5 avenue de Cointe, B-4000 LIEGE, Belgium Fax: 32-4-2527474, e-mail: gerard@astro.ulg.ac.be) WEB site: http://lpap.astro.ulg.ac.be +--------------------------------------------------------+ | Valery Gond - Centrum voor Teledetectie | | VITO - Vlaamse Instelling voor Technologisch Onderzoek | | Boeretang 200, B-2400 Mol, Belgie | | Tel: +32 14 33 68 47 FAX: +32 14 32 27 95 | | E-Mail : gondv@vito.be | | E-Mail : gondv@uia.ua.ac.be | | http://www.vito.be/euroflux/ef.htm | +--------------------------------------------------------+
