Please give the poor listowner a break on this...I for one think he runs the list well... I understand Mr. Wongıs feeling of urgency in getting the news out about the fires, and I share his concern about the people of Indonesia. He did the right thing by informing us of Reutersı article. However, it is not right to turn this issue into a personal crusade about fair use of copyrighted material. Whether or not Reuteurs shares Mr. Wongıs interpretation of international copyright law or would be willing to waive copyright protection for humanitarian reasons is certainly not clear to me. While it is highly unlikely that they know of this post or the existence of this list or would even care, the listowner cannot reasonably be expected to shoulder the liability for other peopleıs posts. Would you be wiling to take this chance? It seems to me that the possibility exists, no matter how unlikely or idiotic it would be, of this list being shut down over this type of activity and the listowner being held personally accountable. Even if he does live in Finland. Must every post on the list inevitably spiral into name calling, endless hateful arguments between four or five people, and topics completely unrelated to ³forest research and studies²?
