Dear Philippe, Thanks for highlighting the legal aspects of copyrights. Having studied commercial law at college, these are my observations: 1. Violation of copyrights occurs when a copyrighted document is circulated/distributed for commercial purposes. A good example is seen in the US & China trade discussions before the US extended China's MFN status. China has a problem in US software & video piracy. To attach a document in its original format, inclusive of authorship, for informational purpose does not constitute piracy or violation of copyrights. 2. We circulate a couple of magazines here together with notes from the CEO every week. I don't think our CEO has breach copyrights law by attaching these magazines to his memo to us. Certainly there are some who should seek the legal advice of barristers/solicitors before crying wolves. Lastly, there are some who seem to have difficulties relating the WWW to real life situations. Much of the info at FAO & WRI are copyrighted but you can still download & distribute them for free. If it's against the law to attach a document, it would have been illegal to download it in the first place. God bless. Nelson Wong MTC
