Hi everyone, I am a 39 year old person that has a M.S. in Urban and Regional Studies and since moving to Colorado from Minnesota several years ago, I have really developed an interest in forestry and other environmental and conservation topics. I am interested in the subject from a hobby or layman's point of view and I find the western coniferous forests simply fascinating. So far I have completed a basic correspondence course in conservation which gave a great overview of many related environmental disciplines. I have also joined a conservation group that works on all sorts of Forest Service projects such as trail maintenance and public education in "gentle on the land" hiking and camping techniques. Finally, I have been reading just about everything I can find on any subject even remotely related to forests which brings me to my question for the group. I am looking for some direction in developing a reading list that include the core works in the subjects of forestry and forest ecology as well as key articles and other materials written by leaders in the field. In short, what I am looking for is to put together a self study plan that fairly represents the state of the art in this scientific field. I am sure that I am asking a lot and any help will be greatly appreciated.
