Hi In sloping terraces, soil level is raised by planting hedge plant along the contour. Mostly Nitrogen finxing species are being planted along contour line. This technology help raise the soil level above the planted contour. This technology has been termed as Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) originally documented and tried in Philippines, and now practices all over the himalayas and other mountain regions. Whether this could be worth attempting by planting small trees, shrubs or brush around trees along the contour.
