I highly recommend the following referneces:

(1) Seeing the Forest among the Trees - British Columbia Bias, but very well
written, deatiled and clear coverage of wide range of subjects including
forest ecology and forest practices, best book I've seen, I'll refund the
price if your'e not satisfied! - Herb Hammond, 1991, ISBN 0-919591-58-2, $45 CDN

(2) Forestopia, a practical guide to the new forest economy
Michael M'Gonigle and Ben Parfit, 1994 ISBN 1-55017-096-1
general forestry issues coverage, agian BC bias, but great clarity, and only
about $10.

(3) International Journal of Ecoforestry  - Quarterly $30 CDN/year email:
