Reduced consumption, recyling, and alternative fibers (hemp and kenaf
make wonderful paper) are all viable options--and all are options that
mean less profit for the wood products industry. You make it sound as
if these innocent capitalists begrudgingly invest millions in new chip
mills, not to benefit themselves, but to help society. Give me a break!

How do you define "respectable," Nelson? so-called scientists whose
research justifies current cut levels? And why do we need to "talk to
and communicate to the business world"? The business world is only
interested in making a buck, and the best way to "communicate" with them
is where we spend our dollars. Of course this might explain the
millions of dollars spent anually by the wood products industry on
lobbyists, advertising, and funding forestry schools in an effort to
fool the public into believig that our forests are being managed
sustainably and wisely.
