Dear Mr. Messina, There is no need to make what environmentalists like Mr. Orr say sound "threatening and scary"., the reality of the results of logging are incredibly threatening and scary. We don't need to gild the lily. I live in Humboldt County (Calif.), home of the Headwaters forest. The results of a century and more of logging here are apparent everywhere. Rivers and streams destroyed, salmon virtually gone, wildlife pushed into our backyards because there is nowhere else to go, mudslides that destroy homes, horrific, scarred hillsides everywhere, massive use of herbicides on logged over areas that is poisoning people and waterways. Worse yet is the long-term threat of desertification of this area. We can no longer hide our heads in the sand, climate systems are changing everywhere. The redwoods are no longer towering over the land here, grabbing the moisture as it comes in from the sea.I live surrounded by the irrefutable evidence that, in the name of "greed and grab" we are destroying the earth. You speak of "supporting evidence" lacking in Mr. Orr's posts. Do you have supporting evidence that demonstrates that what I say above is not true? Come here and I'll show you, because I am surrounded by the "evidence" and it is blatant and undeniable and as "threatening and scary" as it gets. Sylvia De Rooy
