Hello all,
I will be sending a field crew out this summer to take some standard
silvicultural measurements in dense stands of lodgepole pine, western larch,
and Douglas-fir (even-aged). One measurement I need is tree height. Given
that:
1) not all trees will be measured by a single individual
2) my budget precludes some of the newest, expensive equipment, and
3) these stands are quite dense
do any of you have information about which measuring device would work best? I
might be able to negotiate the use of a relascope from one of the NFs. I'd
like the variance in measurement error among users to be minimized, AND I'd
like something that's not overly complex or time-consuming. But I'll go with
complex and time-consuming IF that will give me significantly better accuracy.
Thanks,
Ann Camp
