Dear forest list members, Some of you have commented on our announcement of the publication of the guide to Dutch organizations on tropical forest and nature management. It was proposed to publish for free on the internet. First of all, not everybody has access to the internet, and apart from that I think it is easier and quicker to search information in a guide that you have at hand than to make a connection to a home page on the internet first. Besides, you can easily put the guide in your pocket and take the information wherever you go. Nevertheless, we are considering publication on the internet and although this can be done for free it will still involve work (preperation, updating) which is not paid for. Which brings us to the second point, unfortunately the BOS Foundation is a rather small organization with little or no financial means. Our work is not subsidized in any way, so we are forced to charge for rendered services. A final remark: No information in this world is for free, somehow you pay for it! Thank you, Bert van der Linden BOS Foundation
