The BOS Foundation has compiled a guide to Dutch organizations on tropical
forest and nature management, based on an inventory that was commissened by the
National Reference Centre for Nature Management of the Netherlands' Ministry
of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries. The objective is to provide an
overview of Dutch institutional expertisse on and involvement in tropical
forest and nature management, through which access to information and expertise
on specific issues in this area is improved. The intention is to update the
contents every two years.
The guide provides information on 90 organizations in the Netherlands, arranged
in four categories:
- research and education institutes
- non profit organizations
- business, trade and industry, consultancy firms, and
- governmental organizations
Besides addresses, telephone and fax numbers, email-addresses and names of
informants, the overview includes objectives of the organizations, their
activities, specifically in the field of tropical forests and forestry, and
cooperation with other Dutch organizations on these issues. The overview also
contains information on channels through which the organizations publish about
tropical forest issues and whether or not they have information available and
if so, how it can be obtained.
Through the use of short descriptions, keywords and fields of attention the
overviews are kept as concise as possible. The keywords and fields of attention
have been indexed in the back of the guide and allow to search organizations by
nature, activities and regional/climatic focus.
The price of the guide amounts to Dfl. 30 for BOS members in the Netherlands and
US$ 20 for BOS members in other countries. The price for non BOS members
amounts to Dfl. 50 in the Netherlands and US$ 35 in other countries. Local NGOs
in tropical countries pay US$ 20. Postage and banking costs are included.
