America, Volume 1 Conifers and Volume 2 Hardwoods. 1990. Editied by R.M.
Burns and B.H. Honkala. Agriculture Handbook 654, USDA Forest Service
(Superintendent of Documents, US Gov't Printing Office, Washington DC 20402
No doubt there are other excellent monographs available on these species,
but these volumes are up-to-date, readily available at many libraries,
cover most topics of importance, and are a good place to start.
