The Urban and Community Forestry Grant program administered by the USDA
Forest Service is meant in part to develop local tree programs.  This grant
allows for not only training and education as you mentioned, but also allows
for the development of tree boards and ordinances, inventory of street and
park trees, hiring of city foresters, development of Master Tree Plans,
development of Urban Forestry Program Plans, etc.

These grants have been very effective in working with local governments and
developing an urban forest program.  They have been in existance since 1990
and we have worked with them since that time.
