Next month, while the International Wood Biotechnology Symposium, "IWBS", is on in Canberra (March 10-12), another conference is also going to run in the same city, just 20 minutes away from the venue of the "IWBS". It is called The Commercialisation of Transgenic Crops: Risk, Benefit and Trade Considerations. The dates for this "CTC" conference are March 11- 13 and there is thus some overlap of dates with the "IWBS". Electronic registration, program and accommodation details for the "CTC" conference can be found on the internet at http://biology.anu.edu.au/internal/seminars/comtrans.htm. Registration forms can be obtained from Ms Tanya Joce, Transgenic Crops Workshop, RSBS, ANU, GPO Box 475, Canberra ACT 2601, Australia. Facsimile: 61 6 249 4437. Email joce@rsbs-central.anu.edu.au Full Registration for the "CTC" Workshop is $240. Dinner at Kings Hall costs $40. People attending the "IWBS" but who wish to attend part of the "CTC" too, may do so by paying a discounted fee of $140 to the organisers of the "CTC". To obtain the discount will require proof of registration at the "IWBS". Persons who register for the "CTC" can obtain a special entry right to the IWBS. This will require proof of registration for the "CTC" and will allow the person to be present for any ONE SESSION of the "IWBS" (i.e. morning or afternoon on any one day). This special entry right is an alternative to the existing ONE-DAY fee of $350 for the "IWBS", which is available to anyone and which would cover two Sessions. There is also a $200 fee available to bona fide STUDENTS and this allows entry to any or all "IWBS" Sessions. Anyone wishing to use these lower fees for the "IWBS" and who has not seen the "IWBS" Program can obtain a copy from:Internet: Allan.G.Jamieson@north.com.au Facsimile: A.
