Subscribers,

I find the above message by David Doyle solely as a commercial message
(which has also been cross-posted as he admits) and as such a blatant
breach of the current guidelines of this mailing list (excerpt below) Mr.
Doyle's announcement did not deal with forest RESEARCH and it was not
SHORT! this is a public request for anyone of you to obey the guidelines.

If you would like this list to continue its operation with the current
settings as an open non-moderated list, please send this kind of postings
to the listowner and negotiate with him first, i.e send them to
<forest-request@listserv.funet.fi>.

Unsolicited advertising
are generally NOT accepted. However, short announcements of new
products dealing with forest research are usually OK. If you are
in doubt, ask the listowner before posting.
Spamming and cross-posting

"Spamming" is a network term invented to describe the act of
posting the same message to multiple newsgroups and/or mailing
lists, whether or not the message is germane to the stated topic of
the newsgroups or mailing lists that are being targeted.
     DO NOT REPLY TO THESE!
The person responsible for the spam is probably not anymore
subscribed to the list, and any response back to the list will not
reach that person. It is inappropriate to attempt to flood the
spammer's mailbox with network mail in response. This is probably in
violation of your network's appropriate use policies, and it just
     wastes bandwidth.
