As a forester in North Cumbria, England I am involved in the management of ancient semi-natural Sessile oak woodland. The main aim is to encourge regeneration and as we have a resident Roe deer population this needs consideration. I was shown a few years ago how a small stock fence exclosure will protect regeneration as the deer will walk round the fence rather than jump into a confined space. It certainly seems to work. I have been using exclosure of about 20m sqaure. What interests me is if anyone else uses this method of protection and more so whether anyone can point me to some documented evidence or research. --------------------------------------------------------- Get Your *Web-Based* Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ---------------------------------------------------------
