What operating system do you want this software to run on? If you would
like software running under the Mac O/S, I would highly recommend NIH Image
(that's National Institute of Health). It is a very good lab-environment
oriented image analysis package (as opposed to a remote sensing oriented or
graphics oriented package). (It's also freeware.)
I don't know of packages for Windows ... but that's just because of my OS
preference. Look for an image analysis package that is designed for
medical or other lab-oriented applications.
