---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 24 Sep 1996 15:58:00 +0002 From: "CON-MGT (FONP)" <CON-MGT@fao.org> Subject: Global Annotated Bibliography The Community Forestry Unit at FAO and its Forests, Trees and People Programme (FTPP) have been working in Conflict Management and Community Forestry for a few years. One important activity that we are now seeking to complete is the preparation of a Trilingual Global Annotated Bibliography on Conflict Management and Community Forestry (in English, Spanish and French) as well as the collection of materials related to this topic. The global annotated bibliography will contain references and brief descriptions of a broad array of materials dealing with conflicts over natural resources, including (but not limited to) books, articles, papers, reports, bibliographies, proceedings, workshop and training materials. Its main objective is to provide training and research institutions, program and project staff, and policy and decision makers with a compilation and review of the literature on natural resource conflicts and their management. Likewise, it attempts to help divulge and disseminate valuable information about literature (both published and unpublished) which may not be easily accessed. As you are working in the field of natural resource management, forestry and community forestry issues and/or conflict management, you can probably help us with this project. We would appreciate if you could provide us with the following information: A LIST OF ALL RELEVANT MATERIALS you are aware of regarding conflict over natural resources, particularly in the context of community forestry (please specify which of such materials you have, and include annotations when possible). We hope to receive the listings by OCTOBER 18, 1996. Please kindly send them either via e-mail to CON-MGT@FAO.ORG, via fax to ++39-6-5225-5514, or through regular mail or pouch to: Senior Forestry Officer Attn: Marta Maria Maldonado For: Conflict Management Bibliography Room A-343 Community Forestry Unit Food and Agriculture Organization Via Terme di Caracalla 00100, Rome, Italy An exhaustive search is being conducted in an effort to collect all relevant materials. In case we are unable to locate or access some of the materials you have, we may contact you with a request for copies. All materials will be reviewed, annotated, and classified, and keywords will be identified. Materials previously annotated will be reviewed and edited. The final bibliography will be available by mid 1997. For your information, we will be sending you the "Community Forestry Note" entitled: "Introducing community forestry - Annotated listing of topics and readings." If you are interested in receiving the final trilingual bibliography, please let us know. Thanks much for your assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding this trilingual annotated bibliography. You can also contact Marta Maria Maldonado who is assisting in this project. She can be reached at any of the addresses above or via telephone, direct line at ++39-6-5225-4423, secretariat at ++39-6-5225-2769 or by fax ++39-6-5225-5514. Looking forward to hearing from you.
