Rapid, widespread foliage loss in eastern larch (Larix laricina) has been observed in central Vermont over the past few weeks. Numerous trees have lost all foliage, many others have lost some foliage and some appear to be unaffected. Who is or isn't observing a similar problem and where are you located? Does anyone have an explanation? We are still looking for more reports to gauge the extent of hemlock branchlet dieback, the extent of balsam poplar browning, and extent of serviceberry dieback. Thanks for your help. - Gerry Hawkes - Woodstock, Vermont - ghawkes@sover.net
