To all systems administrators/managers on the Forest List,

We have received (unconfirmed) reports on the following:

'Syn-Attack' - This is a programmed attack by locking up your RAMs and
band-width. The offender's computer will log into your site via
http/ftp/telnet. Once connection is established, the offender's computer
will log-off. This process is repeated over a period of time until your
systems halt.

For your own good, please check/verify your firewall/security system
regularly over the next few weeks. Monitor your system log as well. Look
out for IP addresses logging into your system repeatedly and
disconnecting immediately thereafter.

Favourite targets are ISP and large information web-sites/sites.
