inform on GCTE/PAGES/IGAC/BAHC Workshop "Spatial-temporal dimen-
sion of High-Latitude Ecosystem Change (Siberian IGBP Transect)".
Workshop will take place 24-31 August 1997, at V.N. Sukachev In-

An GCTE/PAGES/IGAC/BAHC Workshop "Spatial-temporal dimension
of High-Latitude Ecosystem Change (Siberian IGBP Transect)" will
be held at V.N. Sukachev Institute of Forest SB RAS, Krasnoyarsk,
24-31 August 1997. The Workshop is open to international scienti-
fic community.
English is Working language.
TOPICS AND QUESTIONS ASKED
The main foci of the Workshop are:
1. Evaluation of the effects of global change on cycling of carbon
and other important elements, such as nitrogen, in the Northern
Eurasian forest/tundra and boreal ecosystems.
2. Studies on the effects of global change on the composition and
structure of the Norhern Eurasian forest/tundra and boreal ecosys-
tems, and the interaction with ecosystem function.
3. Historical direct and indirect data on the long-term dynamics
of the Northern Eurasian boreal forests in relation to global
climate and environment changes.
4. Studies on the effects of global change on the land-atmosphere
exchange of water and energy and on ground water hydrology in the
Northern Eurasian forest/tundra and boreal ecosystems.
5. The effects of large human-driven land-use change and distur-
bance regimes (fire, melting permafrost, insect outbreaks, etc.),
on biogeochemical cycles and function, structure and composition
of ecosystems.
6. Organization of network studies along the Transect in relation to combine spatial-temporal analysis and modelling.
