Please bring this to the attention of postgraduate students: University College Dublin, Ireland Department of Crop Science, Horticulture and Forestry VITALITY OF FOREST PLANTING STOCK Research Studentship We are looking for a postgraduate student to join a team investigating the role of physiological factors in the post-planting performance of forest planting stock. The new position offered will be funded by the EU FAIR Programme and support may be available for up to three years to pursue a M.Agr.Sc. or Ph.D. degree. The student will work in a team project, but will be primarily responsible for research on the origin and development of roots in oak seedlings and the effects of simulated damage due to handling on root development. The research position would suit a person with a strong background in the biological sciences, particularly those with an interest in tree physiology and plant histology. An annual stipend of stlg7,000 is offered. Closing date for applications is 16th September, 1996.
