Just a reminder that the period for public review of the U.S. Federal
Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) draft Vegetation Classification
and Information Standards closes 1 October 1996. When finalized,
these standards will apply to ALL US federal agencies for vegetation
data collecetd directly or indirectly (through grants, partnerships,
or contracts). Copies of the standards are available from the FGDC
Secretariat (Attn. Jennifer Fox) at tel: 703-648-5514; Fax:
703-648-5755. Email: gdc@usgs.gov. They may be viewed at
http://www.nbs.gov/~mikez/fgdc-sub.htm or may be downloaded from the
FGDC Home page at URL: www.fgdc.gov (select Public Documents) or
directly from www.fgdc.gov/pub/standards/veg.  If you do review, tell
us what you don't like, why the standards should be changed, AND
provide us with the wording to make the standard acceptable to you.
