In response to the list of "dieing" trees, I have a question about
about your past winter's weather. This would pertain mostly to the spruce and
fir.
Did you have a winter thaw and a cold freeze or an early hard freeze?
I believe Drs. John Costello and Paul Manion of SUNY-ESF in Syracuse published
a paper a few years back on orange coloring of balsam fir. They linked it to
the previous winter's weather. It might have been published in Bioscience, but
the reference escapes me right now.
