About a week ago, I have posted a message with the hope to open a discussion on forest policies valuation/effectiveness. I would like to thank all people that answered to my request and provided me with useful information. It seems, however, that few policies/programs evaluations are currently undertaken in forestry. From the answers, I may infere that forestry people prefer to speak about what should be done to solve the current forestry problems, rather than about what the problems are and what can be learned from the experience of the past or current forest policies/programs. I believe that too often the forestry problem is formulated to fit the available solution, and that forest policies do not make use of the past experience. Best regards, Niculai P.S. for Mr. Thievierge, U. Laval, Quebec: There was a problem with my mail server on Friday, and I have lost your message and your address. Could you send me your last message again? Je vais repondre en français. ******************************************************* Niculai V.
