A good reference on using horses in logging is A. Koroleff, _Pulpwood
Hauling with Horse and Sleigh:  Efficiency of Technique_ published by the
Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada in 1947.  I'd also suggest
looking for a current publication called _Small Farmer's Journal_.  It's
dedicated to farming with horses so each issue contains many tips on
equipment and methods as well as carrying ads for both livestock and supplies.
