POSITION IN WOODLANDS OPERATIONS

General description

As part of its development program, the Department of Wood and Forest
Sciences is looking for a woodlands operations specialist to assume
responsability for:

1. Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in bridge and forest
road construction, forestry and agroforestry mechanization, management of
equipment and work organization, and supervising students;
2. Directing research works and supervising graduate students on woodlands
operations related topics;
3. Participation in departmental, university and multisectorial (private
and public sectors) committees. Selection criteria

The candidate should possess the following:

1. An undergraduate degree in forestry or related discipline;
2. A Ph. D. from a recognized university in woodlands operations and,
preferably some hands-on experience in Eastern North American regions;
3. Specific knowledge of equipment management, design of forestry and
agroforestry machinery, construction of bridges and forest roads, ergonomy
in the forest;
4. The ability to integrate to multidisciplinary teams and conduct a
research program on the adaptation of wood harvesting techniques to mill
processes and environmental certification, more particularly regarding the
impact of machinery in the forest;
5. The capacity to secure the financing required from sponsor organizations
and the industry;
6. French language skills or commitment to acquire such skills within a year.

Salary:  As per collective agreement in force.

Starting date:  Summer 1996.
