NB: This does _not_ mean that forestry education at a University level
is to be controlled by the NZQA and the NZFOA. The Vice Chancellors'
Committee recently said "No" to NZQA. Foreign readers would rightly
assume that Universities here were slipping into mediocrity if such
control were allowed. We certainly listen carefully when people in the
plantation forestry industry express opinions about our curriculum, but the
curriculum is aimed at a wider definition of forestry with a more global
focus than would be the case if we became simply a factory manufacturing
employees for our local P. radiata-based industry.
