INTRODUCTION TO FGDC'S METADATA STANDARDS MARCH 5-7, 1996

The overall objective of this 2 1/2 day workshop is to provide users
of digital spatial data with an introduction to and an understanding
of the concept of metadata (data about data) and the Federal
Geographic Metadata. The workshop introduces the concept of metadata
and covers related Federal efforts such as the spatial data
clearinghouse and the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
The workshop includes lectures, hands-on exercises for describing
metadata using the FGDC's Content Standards for Digital Geospatial
Metadata, and a workshop manual including metadata. Participants
should come prepared with information on an actual or proposed spatial
data set, (your own or an example) to describe and develop in the
workshop. You could bring and use and ongoing project to fill out.

This workshop is scheduled only for this time (March 5-7). The
workshop will begin on March 5 at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon on March7.
Call Pat O'Neil at 266-8699 for more information. Deadline response
date is Thursday, February 29 at noon.
