TOPIC AND OBJECTIVES
Objective of the symposium is to bring together forestry experts
to discuss specific problems of assessment and monitoring of
forests in tropical dry regions. There is a great variety of
different forest formations in tropical dry regions. In the symposium
emphasis is to be given to the specific forest formation of gallery
forests. Assessment and monitoring have also to be seen
in the context of ecological, environmental and socioeconomic aspects.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
Format:
The program will consist of technical sessions dealing with the
conference topics. One session is reserved for contributed papers
in the wider context of the conference topics. Papers presented
will be published in a proceedings volume.
Contributions:
Papers are called for on the following topics
- Inventory techniques for forests in tropical dry regions
- Monitoring of tropical dry forests including remote sensing options
- Identification of specific problems in assessment and monitoring of
tropical dry forests
- Structure and dynamics of forests in tropical dry regions
- Ecological significance of gallery forests including biodiversity
- Socioeconomic aspects of tropical dry forests
Also a limited number of additional papers refering in a wider sense
to the above topics will be accepted.
