Re; Charlie Blinn's request on temporary stream crossings. Watershed restoration projects here in the Pacific Northwest have used recycled railroad flat-cars for stream crossings (usually protecting fish habitat from livestock through fencing and bridging sensitive streams). Depending on how temportary, and proximity of rail car repair facilities, might be a solution. The cost of moving the cars (large flatbed trailer) is a factor.
