Re: Electrophoresis (US)

Dear Dr. Monk,

I use starch gels for isoenzyme work. For wicking, I use Whatman chromatography
paper (3mm Chr) 20mm*3mm. Its been a long time since we purchased it and so, I
don't remember the supplier. But, I know that Fisher Scientific (1-800-766-7000)
supplies chr. paper comparable to Whatman grade for all wicking purposes. For
3mm (thick) paper, the catalog no. is 05-714-4. For 2mm (thin) paper as the one
you seem to be using, the catalog no. is 05-714-1.

Good luck. Sincerely,

Rajiv

This request is addressed to US members of the list, in particular those
involved in starch gel electrophoresis.

I have been unable to locate the company which has supplied us with filter
paper wicks for electrophoresis. The company, Northfork Products, was at
one time in Carson, WA, and then moved to Syracuse, NY. However, I cannot
find any listing for them in the Syracuse directory.

If anyone knows their present location/phone number, or any other source of
14 x 2 mm Whatman #2 wicks, I would be grateful for the tip.

Thankyou.
Andrew Monk (My apologies to the non US recipients)
