Dear forest-listers, I was wondering if any of you know if the following advertisement is genuine, or is it merely a flame? The email address started with "uhuru". "Uhuru" I think is Tanzanian for freedom, or similar. Uhuru might be the highest peak in Africa (19,340'). What seemed contradictory in the message is that "uhuru" is usually associated with African people's right to self-determination (especially in the USA) and yet here someone is asking for the US to log. I wonder what will be done with the animals from the .25 to 3 million acres? (That's why I thought it was a flame.) > On Jan 19, 7:56am, Mr.Nasser wrote: > Subject: seeking logging company > Please excuse this overtly commercial notice. > > we represent a african government seeking a major american or foreign > lumber co to invest in a start up plant in their country, access to 1/4 > million acres of teak and other hard woods and possibly more acres upto 3 > million, product lumber in country, country provides buildings and labor > ,you provide equipment and training for local workforce upto management > level, excellent ports for shiping on nearby coastline.
