I have been trying to use the census of manufactures and census of
transportation numbers to estimate transportation costs of finished
goods, e.g., wood household furniture, from their production
centers to their markets. I have identified the markets where these
goods are bought most using the census of retail trade numbers. The
information I am trying to find out is quantity produced by each
state, in a region say, southeast. After consulting some trucking
companies, I have a feeling of what the rates are eg. Charllote-Los
Angeles etc for full truck loads. I am asking members of this list
who are interested to share with me some ideas, and if there is a
method often for theses estimation, to let me know the reference
etc.
Yours Joshua Idassi
