REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
A COMPARISON OF THE ECONOMICS AND SOCIETAL BENEFITS OF
ALTERNATIVE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ON ECONOMICALLY MARGINAL
FARMLAND IN THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER ALLUVIAL PLAIN
Pre-proposals are being accepted for analyses of economic and
social benefits of alternative land-use options, including
re-forestation and subsequent forest management, for economically
marginal farmlands in the Lower Mississippi River Alluvial Plain,
colloquially known as The Delta. The project will focus
primarily on the Delta portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, and
Mississippi, and will entail comparative analyses of economically
marginal land used for conventional agricultural crops or for
woody crops (for sawtimber, pulpwood, and/or other
forest-related products/revenues). These lands are typically
economically marginal due to flooding.
