Re: Training Workshops

Dear Pat,

The workshops you announced about GIS and Nature Management look very
interesting to me, esspecially because at my work (National Reference
Centre for Nature Management in Wageningen, Holland) we intend to
develope a National GIS database on nature and forests. This database
maybe will be updated every four years after the year 2000, as part of
the national topographic update cyclus. This update will have different
objections: contributing to the legenda of the national maps on the one
hand and filling a forest and nature geografic statistic database on the
other hand.
We intend to focus on special nature values, like present forest species,
forest structure and forest-age. We also intend to include the soils and
the hydrology into the system, in order to distinguish the (potential)
(forest) flora communities on the one hand and the developments in e.g.
the hydrology on the other hand. For non-forest nature areas like in the
dunes or heathers arial photographes might play an important role.
Though I would be very interested to visit the workshops, my employer
does not have the funds to support this. Therefor I want to ask you, if it
is possible to receive paper-information about the topics of the workshops.
Please answer.

Best regards,
